The curved form of the building follows the path of the sun and angles back away from the main road creating a more private entrance and individual gardens onto each of the ground floor bedrooms. The 20m pool and terrace form the roof of the building, gaining spectacular views and avoiding the problems of settlement at ground level. The entrance is recessed into the ground floor stonework, opening onto a transparent open staircase and rising to a large oval roof light filtering sunlight through the pool above.
The open living space is located on the first floor facing diagonal views to the sea and mountains. The solid chestnut floor spirals around the purpose designed three sided fireplace suspended in the centre of the house.
The openings are adapted to the needs of each part of the building, maximising sun light, focusing views, or creating a private sun lit pattern of openings casting a sun dial throughout the living space.
Externally, the materials and forms refer to the coast line geology of the site, offset from the regular street pattern as if positioned, smoothed, rounded and perforate by the action of the sea.
