Extension to a traditional house

Reformation and extension of a 200 year old stone house.

Traditional stone house

A project to reconfigure, enlarge and repair a traditional building maintaining its historic character and modernising spaces, enhancing sunlight, views and connection to the exterior.

OVERVIEW

The design connects the original house with an independent outbuilding through a new kitchen extension and a terrace facing south to the sea. The main spaces of the original building have been reconfigured and opened up allowing light and ventilation to enter the entire ground floor, and transforming the bedrooms on the first floor. Significant structural modifications and repairs have consolidated the original rough stonework of the building, while new finishes, surfaces and interiors have updated the original building while maintaining its traditional character.
